How do I know if my water heater needs to be replaced?

Are you experiencing issues with your water heater or have an aging water heater? It’s best to have one of our Technicians assess your water heater to determine if it needs to be repaired or replaced.

Ready to get your water heater working like new?

Most commercial water heaters last approximately 10-15 years. If your water heater is past the 10-year mark it may be time for a replacement.

As a water heater ages, sediment builds at the bottom of the tank resulting in banging or rumbling noises. These noises can indicate that your water heater is nearing the end of its lifespan.

Insufficient hot water is another indicator that you may need a new water heater.

Any leaks around your water heater should be addressed immediately to mitigate further damage. Water puddles may indicate a leak within the tank.

This may indicate that the anode rod in your water heater may have gone bad. The anode rod is one of the most vital components in a water heater.

Water Heater FAQs

Your water heater should have a sticker on the top or side of the unit that includes a serial number. If you search that number on the manufacturer’s website you should be able to locate the year your water heater was made. You can also call the manufacturer of your water heater and provide them with the serial number.

The anode rod is a steel wire with aluminum, zinc alloy and/or magnesium wrapped around it. This rod is the most important component of your water heater and helps prolong its life by preventing corrosion and rust.

Water, heat, and metal make a perfect environment for rust and corrosion. The anode rod helps to counteract this environment. Its purpose is to erode by releasing electrons into the water heater tank. This erosion is why the anode rod generally fails before the water heater does.
